It does this sometimes, but when I need it, my computer does this and it's annoying. I just want a way to avoid this and a way to start up my computer all the way without any problems.

If its XP, you can reinstall it from the disk you got. If its 98, you can put in a start up floppy in the A drive boot all the way until it shows the a prompt. This route rewrites you master boot record. You should be fine.

this sound like a harddrive problem, the MBS (Master Boot Sector) is getting corrupt, so next time your computer starts up, get everything off that needs to be saved, or your going to lose it, once you have done that reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows again
