'just a theory' is one of my biggest pet peeves ever. gravity is a theory. the sun coming up tomorrow is a theory. a theory is simply a set of observations that leads to a predictable outcome in future occurrences. nothing in science is ever touted as fact, but if youre going to disprove gravity, relativity, or evolution, youve got a lot of explaining to do. its not science that has a problem with religion, but the other way around. unless creationism can come up with a better argument than "well if its not this, then what is it, huh?", then they arent going to be very convincing.
as for flinstones, i hope so ;) we need to start teaching our children about their ancestors that rode dinosaurs to church.

Science is not "provable", lydiajo. It seeks to disprove by the scientific method of hypothesizing and testing. Through all the hypothesizing and testing we have not be able to disprove Darwin. And yes we have made great strides in clarifying his work. We have changed a few things. That is nature of science, It is always disproving what is flawed throug experimentation to get us ever closer to the facts. Science is not provable. It can only disprove what is wrong.

For three or four generations, the educational system has propounded Darwin's theory of evolution as fact.

It is, in fact, just a theory. If science is so provable, why is everyone so up in arms about a museum that propounds a different theory?

Darwin himself repudiated his writings in Origin of Species. He later said that it was not provable and fatally flawed. But we've been teaching it as fact, not theory.

So who's off base here?
