I have no manual for my 2001 Silverado truck, and don't know what oil type to use, so can anyone tell me? I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.8L 2WD. Thanks in advance!

5w30. I personally use Castrol, but any brand is good. I don't care too much for Penzoil, it tends to sludge up.

The factory says 5w30 for all year use.The brand of oil is up to you.The filter should be replaced with the oil change. This should be done at every 3000 miles. This should help your silverado live a long life.

5w-30 ..... The BRAND of oil is up to you... if you have over 160,000 miles you could use 10w30.
-Castrol GTX
-mobil1 synthetic
-pennzoil
whatever brand you like.... that parts up to you
If you switch to a synthetic you should use 10w30 and a good filter
