Everything is region locked - DVD's, XBox, PS3 - I dont think you can get Wii's chipped yet (but maybe) Once its chipped you can play any game you want... Put it on ebay.

Its part of Nintendo's battle against importing. I've never really understood why they would want to stop us in the UK getting games that aren't out here, but I believe its to do with people buying games in the USA because in our rip off country they cost twice as much, which means less money for Nintendo...
Its always been the case, and is actually on the cases for all the games and the manual for the console, so don't expect much sympathy from the big N unfortunately!
I think you're gonna have to pass this over to ebay to get rid of it.

The Wii and 360 are region locked because Nintendo and MS wants to keep the profits made from each territory to remain in that territory. Nintendo and MS have several HQ throughout the world, and in order to meet certain goals for that part of the world, they have to try to keep their games from spreading into other territories. If one territory starts invading another territory, one territory could lose a lot of money, so to prevent that, MS and Nintendo put a region lock on the games and consoles.

Region locking has long been part of video games, in an attempt to keep territories controlled for profit and mointoring reasons.
A version of Freeloader, a disc that would bypass region locking on the gamecube, is scheduled for the Wii but has no release date as yet. I know of no chipping method to bypass this.
On a side note, the xbox wasn't region locked, MS leaving it to the publisher of a game to put region locks on, most of them been locked but a few will not.

If you have not got firmware version 3.3 it should work. However the 3.3 update - which may actually come on the Wii Fit disc - has stopped all freeloaders working. This happened a week or two ago.

Sorry to hear that. I don't understand why Nintendo do that. One would think they want to get their money, no matter where you buy it. The only thing I could say is to sell it on ebay or amazon and hopefully get most of your money back. :)
