Someone pointed out earlier tthat we have son many stupid, pointless, moronic, outdated stereotypes: Women are supposed to attain the superwoman/domestic goddess eternal sex kitten role while men have their equivalent unobtainable expectations of Uber manhood superdad /husband /lover .
Why don't we all get over it and learn to be ourselves? Plus quit all the sexist gender bullying on all sides? It's moronic. Anyone with me?

I'm completely with you. People should be what they are, and should be encouraged to move towards what they wish to be.
Take my case - 37 years ago, (I'm 50 now)I had to make my choice of subjects to study towards my eventual career. I wanted to become a chef, but, because I was male, I was not allowed to take 'Domestic Science' as an 'O 'level option. Cooking was for girls, and, because I went to a Grammar school, nobody, male or female, from such a background would be expected to undertake such a demeaning job such as being a chef. The dimmest pupils were groomed to take level 2 jobs in the Civil Service (Office jobs - not sitting in the dole office talking to the public - such roles were for those who went to the Secondary Modern school - one grade down in the educational pecking order). I was accordingly groomed for Academe on the Arts side, and arsed the entire caboodle up by having a nervous breakdown at 17 and having to leave school for good. My headmasters wish for me to become another Cantab scalp on his belt were stymied.
In the end, I became a chef, by joining the UK Royal Naval Auxiliary Service (part-time warriors), and I also pursued a reasonably successful career in transport, but not as a chef.
By the way, for the purists, I do know that Naval chefs are known as 'cooks'.

I think the pressure on society to conform to certain stereotypes has got way out of hand.Everything has to be bigger, better than cost more money than most can really afford. The women have to multi task in today's world, kids, job,
home to run,and look glamorous while doing it.
Sometimes when you read how it was years ago,the man went out to work, the woman looked after the kids and made sure the home was run well.No pressure like today's rush to complete deadlines,at work and home.
The world we live in today has forgot how to live a natural relaxed life and we are poorer for it.

I am with you on this one sport. To many people are trying to be someone or something they are not. We don't have to pretend to be superwomen and superdad. This world is to fast paced now a days. We must slow down and take take to enjoy life and the quality of life. This was a very good question.

I am with you. I don't care about any of those things, but many people hold onto to them for fear of the end of our society. As far as I can see, holding onto the old mores lead to degeneration, but grasping onto and touting free thinking and the breaking of all rules is also running down the road to disaster. I think we have to make fairly slow considerate progress and evaluate our options. It may be necessary for a few to break away in order to show us if something will work or not, but many people have suspended any evaluation or consideration of the consequences of our decisions and embrace any new idea that strikes their fancy. But I agree, sexist notions can go.

Oh, well said! It's about time. You tell it like it is. We should all be looking at each other as equals and individuals, not pressuring each other to be the ideal male or female. It's daft. We're all full of insecurities that shouldn't be there at all, due to trying to fit into all these stupid stereotypes, to one extent or another... and I mean both women and men.
Great question.

Yes, I agree. I'm assuming since you used the word "uber" that you are German. (I am German descent) I used to try to live up to other's standards, but now I realize how futile that is. I was a wife, mother, & had a career. You can't do it all & do them all well.
