No big deal. I hate to see him go, but the Steelers have a history of losing All-Pros every year & bringing up another guy that fills in just fine. Who ever heard of Faneca 5yrs. ago? He deserves big money, but the Steelers don't do that too often, especially when the guy is heading towards the end of his playing days. Most guards don't last much more than 7-8 seasons & then go down hill rapidly due to the pounding they take. People were panicing when Dermonte Dawson left a few years ago, but the Steelers & their running game didn't miss a beat, did it?

I totally agree with you. This guy is a great player and I am not even a Steelers fan. If any evidence is needed, look at the block in the Super Bowl that sprung the longest TD in Super Bowl history by Willie Parker. I hope they don't pay him though so the Cowboys can.

pay him or trade him to the skins we need a good guard and faneca is the man. the steelers run game would blow nuts without him.

yeah he is a very good guard. he has been crucial in the dominant running game the steelers have had. if they don't find a way to keep him it will negatively impact the steelers offense and the cardinals will have one heck of a guard in the 2008 season.

Losing him WOULD be a big blow to the offensive line. It would hurt their 'bread and butter' running game. Plus protecting Big Ben # 7

If they thought that they could get equal quality in a rookie or less veteran player for less then they did it to stay under the salary cap. Yes it's going to be risky but I don't think that it's going to be as bad as you make it out to be.

I think it will be great, another nail in their cheap coffin. They'll give hamburger all the money and watch him dump.
