It was formed over millions of years by flowing water wearing down the land. This is well-known. It is not a mystery.

certainly not a natural dam burst. By it's purpose, a dam would be a wall that completes a pool for the water to collect in. Look at the topography around the head of the grand canyon. It starts on a plateau. There is no bowl shape that could have held water, let alone enough to carve the grand canyon.
Even if the accepted explanation is wrong (but i see no reason to doubt it), a dam is an even less feasible explanation.

It is a natural formation. Unnatural would be man made. I have heard the theory presented that the Grand Canyon and an area in Eastern Washington were caused when a huge lake of glacier water suddenly let lose. The last ice age receded more than 10,000 years ago. This theory will be challenged by traditionalists until long after we are dead.

No. The Canyon is much older than 4300 years. The river is at about the same level it has always been at. It is eroding through rising land. The Canyon is a natural formation.

The Grand Canyon is the natural result of the Colorado River eroding deeper and deeper into the rock as the surrounding land was lifted up by forces inside the earth.

The Grand Canyon was formed over millions of years of the Colorado River flowing through that area. Say you remeove one small layer of sand one sand granule thick every day. It will take how many days to reach a depth on 1 mile.
Think it through and you will see God has been at work making this world for us for quite some time before he was pleased with it enough to bring such a present as this Earth to us.

Finally, a question with some good answers. To Rockstar: I too have wondered about death before Adam and Eve. Some theologians believe that Adam and Eve brought death to all creatures because in the Bible it says that "all of creation groans and travails till the day Christ comes back" (I paraphrased) but I KNOW that there were animals before mankind that died, due to the fossil record. I also know the earth is billions of years old, 4.5 to 6. Moses wrote the 7 day story as an allegory (like Geolicio said) so the people would understand it. The Bible is not a science or historical textbook but a compilation of books dealing with a spiritual and moral God as a guidebook for mankind. So to me, the theologians are wrong and that eternal life wasn't offered to species but were part of the food chain and were made for God's enjoyment and they died before mankind. For one thing, Adam and Eve KNEW what death was-there was no explanation needed. Also, after God made the creatures, He said, "Let us make man in our image." Even though He made these creatures, He wanted a creature to commune with. So if He decided to make man from ape-so be it. But didn't He make man from the dust of the earth? Yes, and so were all creatures. We are all made from the same stuff in the Chemical Chart. (And where in the hell is my photo?)

It is quite natural and about 250 million years old. It was formed by what is now the Colorado River when it was much bigger and much more powerful. The canyon was formed by millions of years of erosion. Despite my belief in God, Noah's flood is just a story, or at best an allegory about having faith in God.

Render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to god what is god's.
Leave to science explanations about nature and religion to explanations about the spirit.
David climbed a tower from which he could see the corners of the whole earth. "Corners" doesn't need to imply that the earth is square, but the only way to see the whole earth would be if it were flat.
A creationist explanation of fossil deposits is that the larger animals' bones sank first after the flood and ended up lower than smaller animals. That is how dinosaur bones came to be lower than other bones. This has no relation to reality. There are many layers of smaller fossils below the dinosaurs.
