i bought a microsuede couch second hand and did not realise the smell of the smoke until I bought it into my smoke free home...I'm scared to give it a good scrub as it's microsuede and I don't want to wreck it? It's only six months old.

Try Febreze or something similar. Read the instructions on the bottle before you buy it to make sure it is safe for micro-suede. If the manufacturer's label is still on the couch, see if you can find a telephone number or website to visit so you can call or write and ask them directly. They made it. They should know how to treat it.

I also have a micro-suede couch. Luckily, I bought the cleaner for it when I bought the couch...You should use only cleaning products that are safe for suede or the result will be discoloration and hardening of the fabric, such as you have. Other than having a professional come in and look at it, you really can't do anything more. DO NOT EVER USE FABREZE ON SUEDE. EVER EVER EVER. As for the smell, veteranarians usually carry something that will take care of that. Using it on suede may not be the best idea, but since you already have a permanent stain, you might as well get the stink out. Good luck, and next time you buy new furniture, get the cleaner for it and read the directions on both the couch and the product before you start scrubbing.

have you tried using Febreeze?? It seems like that might help. It should not wreck your used microsuede couch.

Fabreeze works pretty good. When I've smoked a cigar my coworkers spray under my arms and my shirt before I enter the office...
