I need help locating a portable air conditioner that does not require a specialty plug. I can do with the old fashion 3 prone outlet. All the other models I have found require t-shape outlets in order to operate. So does anyone out there know of any portable air conditioners which operates with the old 3 prone outlets and the locations to find it.

I haven't looked in a couple of years, but this type of unit should be easy to find! You need a 110-volt unit, NOT a 220-volt one. I don't remember where the power rating peaks out, but I think you can get at least an 8000 BTU unit in the 110-volt range. Ask any salesperson in Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, K-Mart or Target! Some brand-specific stores, such as Freidrich, will also carry such units. Let your fingers do the walking. . . in the yellow pages under "AIR CONDITIONERS".

just call an electrician and have them alter the plug for what you need. You may even be doing the next renter a favor.
