It was about the size of a pig. But had a long snout like an anteater. Are there anteater in North America?

Maybe an Aardvark? Kinda looks like a cross between an anteater and a pig. Did you know they are in a class all to themselves?

Last time I checked, there were no anteaters or aardvarks roaming the fields of NoCal.

Um.......could it have been an anteater?

If it had a hard sectioned shell it might have been an armadillo.
If it had a long, pink rat-like tail, an oppossum.

Other ideas..............................
a very small elephant.
A jackalope.
Jake the alligator man.

Maybe it was in fact a pig. Could have been a wild one or an escapee pet (vietnamese pot bellied pig).
