How do these two President's statements make you feel when seen in contrast with the other? How do you view each separately? What does it mean to you personally? What does it mean to you as a whole? Does one take away from the other and if so, how?

Please think deeply for a moment after reading these quotes and before giving your thoughts. Thanks!

Theodore Roosevelt, (1858-1919), 26th president, once said, "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."

George Walker Bush, 43rd President, once said, "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."

Obviously, anyone who says that their actions may not be questioned is acting in a tyrannical manner. Dubya works for "we the people," and should know his place -- it's laid out very clearly in the U.S. Constitution. You know, that document that he seems to take so much glee in shredding. He took an oath to "preserve, protect, and defend" the Constitution. Since he fails to do so, in so many ways, he should be called on it, and impeached.

Teddy had it right, and it does not change with time or circumstance.

you may desire to take the statements in context. thank you for the Roosevelt speech I had'nt heard it formerly. It feels like a stump speech. Politics is often rhetoric. What Bush stated grow to be directed at bringing the yankee human beings mutually after an unspeakable act. Politically they're the two solid.

Well, for Teddy, there was no real enemy to the American public. For GW there is. If you don't support the Internation War on Terror, you really are with the terrorists. If you don't support the governments of the world who are working to stop terrorism, you are doing nothing except hurting the future victims of terror. Possibly even yourself or your family. Take things into context, and you can answer your own question.

Hard to contrast them since they were both talking about different things, Teddy: Presidents and Bush: the US itself. If Bush said "either you're for me or against me" it would be simple to contrast the two statements.
