I know that anthropologists usually classify Native Americans as a branch of the Mongoloid racial stock. However, from looking at pictures of Native Americans and East Asians, I found that the Native Americans look quite caucasoid (except the Inuit, who are definitely Mongoloid). Yes, they do have more slanted eyes and higher cheekbones than Europeans, but I also found that they also have high nasal profiles, protruding brow ridges, and double eyelids (not common among Asiatic Mongoloids). I found this especially to be true among North American Natives (Iroquois, Cherokee, Algonquin, etc.) than the South American Natives who live in the Amazonia (who look more Mongoloid). Does anyone else notice this too?

Excellent question. Amerindians are clearly not purely east-asian
(aka mongoloid). Amerindians are largely descended from siberians,
as is shown in the haplogroup maps (amerindians mostly belong to
y-haplogroup Q).

The amerindians have multiple origins. From what I can tell, there
are the following amerindian types:
1. the tungid siberian type, with large cheek and jaw bones
2. the lapp type, with a flat, round-bordered face, with folds in the
flesh
3. mongols (meaning mongolian types, not east asian 'mongoloids'
in general)
4. caucasoids, most likely from southwest siberia
5. australoids

There are probably even more.

Pacific islanders are also of Asian stock too...of inginous Taiwanese....not the Chinese Taiwanese who invaded several hundred years ago.....

Looking at them, you can see some similarities with some asians, but then again there are some differences too (ie guess curley hair, but apparently thats from mixing with Papua New Guinea...which are more like Aborigines).....
There are more dark skinned, curlier hair (eg melonesians and micronesians) while polynesians are more "brown" and look different.....but still they are of Asian heritage....
Maybe a small group had features slightly different to the main "mongoloid" types and became more common in the rest of the native americans as they spread out over time (the founder effect).

Many of the early Americans wandered across the Bering straits or now, we believe they even could have come by boat along the water and followed the coastline.
It's believed some came from the Northern Japanese Islands, probably driven from warfare. Some came from the Inuit stock across the Russian interior.
There is still the mystery of the many others that came, probably following the herds of animals and mixed with the early settlers already here. There were no actually real or what they'd like to think they are personally, the First Americans because there were so many.
One day, maybe in our time, it will all come out.

I doubt they were Mongoloid, ******* or Caucasoid. They dont look the part. They are most likely a separate ethnic group, similar to how the Aborigines of Australia cant be classified into either three. The closest Aborigines can be classified is *******, but saying they are ******* might be dishonest.

Eskimos are of the Mongoloid stock. Indians are from a different stock of people. I've never heard anthropological reports classifying Indians as from the Mongoloid stock.

If you read about genetic mapping, there is evidence that Native Americans and Polynesians originally migrated from Asia. Specific genetic markers are common to certain locations and time periods.

bc its insulting to interior reach individuals to call them Indians because of the fact back interior the day whilst Christopher Columbus sailed the sea Blue in 1492. He theory he landed in India, yet fairly based a "New worldwide" yet did not realize it so he theory the Natives have been Indian btw, even however Columbus is given credited for reading the recent worldwide, it grow to be Amerigo Vespucci who certainly got here across u.s. as a clean continent.

I believe many have visited the Americas and some stayed. Columbus certainly was not the first. The interesting thing to me is the similarities in their myths and folklore, and they are not much different from any other race or culture.
