WWII
Hitler broke the Treaty of Versailles by mobilizing troops and creating a huge army but the rest of Europe turned a blind eye. They hoped that if they ignored him and his actions, nothing would happen and they would remain in peace. Great Britain had an agreement with Poland, that if Poland were attacked by Germany, GB would declare war on Germany (Germany's greatest fear, throughout all of it's wars, was having to fight a war on two fronts). so, Hitler is intent on gaining back the land and territories that Germany lost in the Treaty of Versailles so he slowly takes back Czechoslovakia and the other nations that had been created. When Germany bombs Polands, GB is dragged into it and must declare war. Hitler is feeling very confident at this point and since he wanted to take over Europe (like Napoleon) he attacks France. France falls shortly and American Neutrality ends...GB is the only democratic nation in Europe left.
Now throughout this, there is a non-aggression pact that Germany had made with Russia. But Hitler violates it and attacks Russia, thinking that it would be a quick victory, but just like in history, he was unable to defeat the Red army. the russians drove German troops back to Berlin. At the same time, The US was finally sending troops to aid GB in trying to free Paris. DDay was a successful invasion of the beaches in Normandy and during that invasion...American forces and British forces freed France and continued to push East towards Berlin. While another group went up through Italy, freeing Italy and the African nations that Italy had captured.
On the Pacific Front, Japan had seized Manchuria and it angered the US. so the US placed an embargo (not trade/refusing to trade) on Japan, froze all Japanese assets in the US, and demanded that Japan withdraw. Japan is unwilling to lose face (they have a strong sense of pride) and so they chose war. on a foggy day in december, one day after a formal declaration of war is signed and delivered, Japanese fighter planes bombed pearl Harbor. US was totally unsuspecting of an attack on the Atlantic side and was caught unprepared. Pearl Harbor angered the US and the US now declared war on Japan. The Allies had won a series of battles in the Pacific and Japan was extremely weak, but due to its pride, they would fight to the death. The US developped the Atomic bomb and two were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thus ended WWII.

Hitler-Germany
FDR-USA
Emperor Hirohito- Japan
Mussolini-Italy

WW II began this way:
Started in two parts of the world, really. First in Europe with German re-armament and rise of the Nazi party in 1930s. Germany felt the "German people" in other countries (parts of Poland, Czechsv., Austria and so on) needed to be united with Germany. German agression and expansion clashed with British and French interest, and when Germany invaded Poland in 1939 (a country which had a protection treaty with the UK and France), war broke out. Germany screwed up when they also attacked the USSR (Russia) and broke a treaty with them. The two-front war and entry of the US doomed Germany.
More or less the same thing with Japan in Asia. In the 1930s, Japan became dominated by militarist, and they started invading resource rich neighbors (China, Burma, Korea) and expanding. The US was their main threat, so they attacked the US (Pearl Harbor) in an attempt to knock out the US Pacific fleet and buy themselves a few years befor the US could stop them. They did not hit the US aircraft carriers though, and the US came back quickly, and within 1 1/2 years at the battle of Midway, turned the tide. Ultimately, the US used its resources and the atomic bomb to end the war and save lives.
Germany declared war on the US after Pearl Harbor, and the US joined the war in Europe, focusing first on Germany (with the Army) and then on Japan (with the US Marines and Navy).
Hitler justified Germany's expansion by arguing:
1. "German lands taken after WWI belonged to Germany" - particularly lands in Poland, Czech Republic, and in France.
2. "German peoples groups needed to be restored to Germany" - Ethnic German minorities should be protected and restored to their rightful homeland - Austria, three countries mentioned in #1 and parts of Romania and Hungary.
3. "Germany was going to grow and needed more space that was being controlled by the slavs" - this is bascially a blend of a type of German manifest destiny (like the US viewed Inidians in the 1700 - 1800s) and was based on a view that Slavs were less than human.
4. "Germany was being restored to her rightful glory" - people in Germany felt good about German expansion, and they enjoyed seeing their country restored to the dominant European power.
5. "Germany is being invited in by host governments" - German puppet leaders in countries like Hungary, Romania, and France helped support the claims that German troops were there at the invitation of the host (occupied) country.
Japan justified the war by saying it was their national destiny. Their people by & large followed this reasoning since the Emperor endorsed it. He should have been hung as a war criminal following the war, but the US allowed him to live to help get the buy-in from the Japanese on their surrender and reconstruction.
Famous Generals of the war were:
A site that lists them all is http://www.generals.dk Here are the top few from each country. Note, I list Navy and Air Force Commanders as well:
UK: Montgomery, Alexander, Brooke, Wavell, Percival and Wilson
Germany: Jodl, Rommel, Erich von Manstein, Heinz Guderian, Wilhelm Keitel, Gerd von Rundstedt
US: Marshall, Nimitz (really an admiral), Eisenhower, Bradley, Patton, MacArthur, Halsey (admiral), Arnold
Soviets: Zukov, Rokossovsky, Vasilevsky, Konev, Timoshenko
Polish: Rydz-ÅmigÅy
China: Kai-shek, Mao Zedong, Xishan
French: de Gaulle, Gamelin (most surrendered and sat out the war eating cheese and criticizing the Allies)
Japan: Tojo, Sugiyama, Terauchi, Yamashita, Nagumo, Yamamoto, Toyoda, Kan'in
Canada: Crerar, Simonds
Leaders of Countries:
Britian: Churchill
Soviets: Stalin
Germany: Hitler, although it was Jodl who surrendered after Hitler killed himself
Italy: Mussolinni, who was hung by partisians at the close of the war
US: Roosevelt and later Truman following R's death in Warm Springs, GA
Japan: Hirohito as Emporer, Tojo, and then a flurry of military leaders that functioned as a "Joints Chief of Staff" and pretty much ran the show in each branch for themselves.

This is far too broad a question. You need to get some grasp on what happened during 1939-1945 and then ask something much more specific.

Quite the grocery list of information you want there. I think you'd be better off doing some actual research for yourself. Give it a try, it's really not that hard.

The U.S was concerned about getting money from selling products in Asia. They already wanted to enter the war, pearl harbor was a justification. Oh Japan had attacked pearl harbor because the U.S initiated a blockade on Japan, which didn't allow Japan to import metal nor fuel.
But before that, Germany was pissed- off due to the Treaty of Versailles. Which basically blamed Germany for all the damages done in ww1. So when Hitler came back from fighting in ww1. He saw all the damage done to germany, germany was going through an economic depression. .........
what else do you want to know?
