I think my grass is in the reproductive phase- can I mow it?

All of a sudden I have all these thin blades of grass with what appear to be tiny flowers. I have never seen this before, but was told the grass was getting ready to seed. Should I mow the lawn or what can/should I do? Is it best to let it "re-seed" itself? Thanks!

Cut it. Grass that is setting seed will be weakened. You'd rather have your lawn reproduce asexually through tillering or the stolons....depending on your grass type.

Well I would give it 2 days for it to seed then I would mow it every two weeks and give it a good supply of lawn food by adding lawn food once every mounth until the grass growing season is over.

From what you have said, it sounds like your grass is reseeding. Mow your lawn first thing in the morning or late evening, make sure you don't cut grass too short or you will burn your lawn.
Mowing your lawn while re-seeding won't hurt it.

i agree with fluff.
you should keep the grass mowed to a height of 1- 2 inches on average. toward the end of the growing season it might be a little taller, but for now - keep it mowed!
