I wouldn't say "best" as in GOOD. In fact, experience has often been a harsh and cruel teacher. But I will let you in on one secret...once you have learned something the hard way, it usually doesn't take a second lesson for you to come to your senses.

This is assuming that you have a social conscience at all. I have also seen people who NEVER learned from their own experiences, because they just didn't care about others. Just look at all the drunk drivers who cause accidents (even fatal ones) who get right behind the wheel again and drive drunk!

Well in my experience as a network technician I can tell you have read many books on the subject but nothing is compared to actual experience, although I'am sure there are rare peopl ewho can read a book about how to do something and do it right away. In my expeirence experience and moderate repetition is the best way to learn.

It is and it isn't. There are a lot of lessons you learn from having done something the wrong way or from having done it the right way. There are times when the mistakes you make are incorrigible and you never get a chance to re-do anything along those lines ever again in your life. In those cases experience is not a good teacher.... but it sometimes is like in cooking and art and other things you can practice.

Experience is the best punisher. Mentors are the best teachers.

...umm,..in my experience, results were my best teacher...but then,...sometimes consequences taught me some expensive or hard lessons as well,...and once in a while a lesson came along that amounted to a graphic demonstration from some one else showing me how NOT to do something.

It isn't so easy declaring one lesson-learning method superior to another..all of them were a learning 'process', so they were all unique to them selves, in a way..

many times, yes. But unfortunately there are areas such as love and relationships where personal experience does not always work and you just do the same mistakes again because you want this.

A teacher that inspires experience. Once you learn that you can be your own teacher, the sky's the limit. But you need to first be taught that.
