How would I connect a DVI cable to my laptop if I don't have the port? I only have a USB, VGA, and S-Video port. Is there some kind of adapter I can get? I know you can get a DVI to HDMI cable, but I don't have an HDMI port.

yes there is!
search ebay for a "VGA to DVI" adaptor. for a few quid/dollers, you can have one.
You need to have the adapter on the receiving device (externela screen) and a VGA cable connecting the adaptor to the external device

I am assuming you want to hook your laptop up to an LCD TV or something, you can get a VGA to DVI converter.
