Besides the Ford Crown Victoria or any other ford what would make a good affordable fast safe police car? No suvs or vans just sedans or coupes.

the days of the one size fits all police car are gone -the needs of the NYPD are 180 degrees from the Nevada state trooper chasing 160mph bimmers hot footing to and from L.A. Then you got county sherrifs with suv's and dogs and literally TONS of equipment,but if you held my feet to the fire and said pick a new model I would pick the 2007 malibu MAXX SS for the same reasons i would chose it for a traveling salesman-lots of cargo room for perps and dogs and guns lots of power in the 240 hp v-6 -since it is already a Super Sport it will come with HD drivetrain and suspension and it looks ok too which won't hurt when auction time comes and us tax payers need to recoup some investment

Say "Police car" and the Ford Crown Victoria comes to mind first, but in reality all the major players have a police package. Chevrolet Impala SC1 is preferred in some departments, but you can't discuss vehicles and leave out the Dodge Intrepid either.
For the European market Volvo and Peugeot are major players, and even the VW is a contender in the German market.

Any car with four wheels on it. Many different "COP cars" around the world. You can turn any car into a Police Car and add some after market gadgets to boost horse power. Blowers, turbo chargers, NOS injectors, Nitromethane motors, be creative. I'll look for you on the six o'clock news!

I liked the 70-75 plymouth fur 3's with the 440 interceptors.They had 140 on the speedometer and would bury the needle past it a good way.

The Michigan State Police for some reason are accepted as the official testers of police cars. Read their reports here and pick the one you think would be best.

I dunno but I've been seeing a lot of Impalas in my area of South Carolina, I've also seen a few Dodge Charger police cars.
