I would say, speaking from experience in Boston, he has been the beneficiary of managing some good teams. The Red Sox were World Series contenders when he took over and now he's managing a pretty good team in L.A. But I thought the Dodgers would be a lot better then they have been. Sometimes he has a tendency to confuse people with his decisions and the Pedro Martinez episode in the 2003 ALCS still bothers me. That was 1 of the worst managing decisions in MLB history.

He's not a bad manager. For your first issue..I'm not sure who the two players are, but I would assume the guy with the lower average hits for more power and drives in more runs. As far as Bret Tomko, why wouldn't he be in the rotation? He's not a superstar by any means, but he's a solid starter. As for not keeping pitchers in long enough, I would assume that this is usually a a pitch count issue and he's trying to keep guys healthy. It could also be that the whole Pedro thing still scares him and he doesn't want to leave guys in too long. For the last issue who would u pick to play third? They don't really have anyone who deserves consistent time at that spot to me. Is he a perfect manager, of course not....but there are a lot worse managers out there.

I'm a red sox fan. But I don't think he's not that bad of a manager he just makes some bad moves every here and there. The reason why he takes out pitchers early is that he doesn't want the same thing happening the the dodgers of what he did in boston

Dodgers lead the West and have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, so he must be doing something right.
And at least he can spell "dumbest".

I'm sure Red Sox fans will sympathize with you there. His poor managerial skills is what ran him out of Boston.

Maybe, maybe not... but you couldn't disprove it by the 2003 ALCS.
