This debate/question is old. It's been done, insinuated, whatever. Sorry to be so harsh. I just think the focus should be on getting this little girl back, after that, everyone can climb into the parents. Has anyone even thought about what they might be going through? Don't you think that they think the same thing "IF only we hadn't..."
Instead of judging, why not let this be a LESSON instaed of a platform for sanctimonious " Well I would NEVER have...."
I'm not saying it was right, but no can tell me that they've never left their kid alone. And even if this girl had been older, people would be saying the same thing. I KNOW that I'm not going to win any new friends with this answer, but I know that if I were in this situation, this kind of thinking or outright accusation is the last thing that I'd need or want to hear.
I'd be doing a fine job of beating myself up already.
I say: find the girl first, leave the lynching for later.
(No disrespect intended.)

Absolutely not, I would never leave my child alone. I know I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down for this, but I think the McCanns should face some sort of legal consequence for the disappearance of their daughter. It's due to their own stupidity and neglect that she's even missing in the first place.

I don't have children, but I would never consider leaving a child in the room on their own.

I was reading the Sun online there is an interesting interview with teh McCanns, and when they were asked why they left the child on their own, they likened it to having dinner in your own garden at home etc with where the apartment was. it's quite an interesting interview.

At the end of the day YES they were completely in the wrong, NO i would not leave my children alone but they are missing of their daughter, any1 with kids would know what a horrible horrible thought that is, so lets all just leave the mcanns alone for now I'm sure they will get what ever they deserve at the end of this traumatising experience. No matter how bad someone has been they dont deserve to lose their children!

To be honest, i wouldn't have left my child alone in my own country but in a FOREIGN place? Wasn't it supposed to be a family holiday? Why take a child if you are just going to leave it alone and bugger off to a club? They might as well have just left her with a relative in England. In my eyes, they are very irresponsible parents. They are hundreds of women out there who have spent years trying to have children and the Mcanns just take advantage of the fact they have a child. I only have sympathy for Maddy-for having such idiotic parents.

Sorry if i offended anyone, but im only answering the question. Lets all hope for her safe return. xx

No I would`t.
But I have noticed that every time the McCann's appear on TV the number of questions on this site goes up considerably, most of them criticising them and pointing out the inconsistencies in their story of the events.are they digging themselves a hole they cant now get out of, have things gone to a point that they now can`t control ?
They seam to be able to do no good .
If they just told the truth from the beginning and held their hands up and come clean about their actions things might be a little better for them.
It`s their problem but they seam to like to heap their guilt on others and whitewash over their faults.Shame on them

no i have a little girl maddies age and i wouldnt dream of leaving her on her own, even to just pop up the shop, things are to easy done and happen to quick, just not worth the risk now a days. now my parents used to leave my sister and me asleep while they went just over the road but that was 30 years ago.

I would never have left my children alone, never.

I'm not judging the McCann's either, and I am hoping and praying that little Madeleine is returned safely to her parents.

nope i would have not left my child alone they should have thought about it more before doing it that is the case with alot of kidnappings if parents/guardians payed more attention and thought before leaving them alone and unsupervised or that kind of thing people just need to think more now in days you no pedophiles wouldn't get so many kids if parents/guardians payed more attention i am not saying it is all the parents fault but it is in some cases
