The Wii does not have an internal hard drive. It has internal memory.
You cannot save complete games to the Wii because it would be too easy to commit software piracy. If it's possible to save complete games on the Wii, what's to stop people from going to Blockbuster or any other game rental stores, rent a game, go home, copy the game, and then return the game, all without spending 50 bucks to buy the game.
You can use the Wii for game saves, but not to copy Wii or GC games to the Wii.

Absolutely!
That's how the Wii works. It uses it's internal memory drive to archive your saved data from Wii games. However, If you want to save Gamecube game data, you need to insert your Gamecube memory card into the Wii. You can go through your gamecube memory card's data from the Wii. Just click the options button and go to the DATA section. You'll be able to delete, move, and look through any info on your GCN memory card! Cool, eh?
You can also save Wii game data to a memory card. By using an SD card (these are small, chip-like cards used for cameras, camcorders, etc.), you can easily save Wii game data AND virtual console games!
Enjoy your Wii, my friend!
