Zero. Lou and Mattingly were well on pace but had their careers shortened due to illnesses and injuries.

Hopefully Derek Jeter and stay healthy long enough to become the first in Yankee history.

Amazingly NO NY Yankees have 3000 hits. The Yankees career hit leader is Lou Gehrig with 2721. Dave Winfield played several years for the Yankees amassing 3110 hits, but not all of those hits were as a Yankee. Same with Ricky Henderson who had 3055 career hits. Wade Boggs had 3010 hits, mostly with the Red Sox Babe Ruth had 287, some of those were also with the Red Sox. Derek Jeter leads present Yankees with 2217 hits, he probably has a good shot of reaching 3000 as a Yankee.

The Yankees franchise hits record is 2721 by Lou Gehrig.

Members of the 26-man 3000 Hits Club who have played for the Yankees include:

Paul Waner (Yankees 1944-45, 1 hit of 3152)
Dave Winfield (1981-90, 1300 of 3110)
Rickey Henderson (1985-89, 663 of 3055)
Wade Boggs (1993-97, 702 of 3010)

Of these four men, three are in the Hall, and Henderson comes up for consideration in 2009 (if he doesn't make a comeback before then).

Dave Winfield (3110), Rickey Henderson (3055) and Wade Boggs (3010) are the only players that have played for the Yankees to achieve 3000 hits. None of them came up with the Yankees and Henderson and Boggs will never be thought of as a Yankee. Winfield played the longest with the Yanks. None of the three achieved their 3000th hit in a Yankee uniform.

I'm seeing Jeter working his way to the top of the hit list...The guy is amazing. I went insane when he passed the great Joe D the other day!

You don't see a lot of players like him everyday!

But there will be perhaps another player or two with just as much potential as he has. And when he comes along, we'll all know it!

ohhhh...I believe, Lou Gherig has 2700 hits or something like that for Yankees in hits catagory so as of now, no Yankees have ever reached 3000 + hits...Jeter is the best odds in favor to surpass that mark.
