You need to hit F8 while the computer is booting (before the blue screen).

Reboot your system, and keep hitting F8 while it boots. You should get a menu to allow you to boot into safe mode.

I believe that usually when you see the blue screen you will be unable to do anything at that time. So you should force it to power down by either holding the power button until it shuts down or by unplugging the computer or turning the surge protector off if you have one. Then you need to power your computer back on and hit F8 then and then you should be able to load the computer in safe mode.

Always best to provide as much detail as possible, like what O/S you are using, what error is on the BSOD, etc.

Boot the machine from your Windows XP. You may go to the Repair Console and try to run a CHKDSK. If you can not, you can run a Repair Install of XP. This will not overwrite your data, and will bring your O/S back to working order.

You will need to download and install a zillion security updates again, but that's a small price to pay to get your computer working again.

Good luck!

AAHHHH!! The Dreaded Blue Screen of Death!! Lord! Have mercy on us all!!
Quick, prostrate yourself and offer a peace offering to Microsoft! Genuflect! Beg forgiveness! Judgment day is at hand!

Basically, you're screwed. I tried for over three months to resurrect a computer from the Blue Screen of Death. I've heard of it being done, but never seen it.
Good luck.

Uh-oh that's bad. I had a similar problem and ended up having to get a new hard drive. Call tech support and they'll tell you what to do.

I'm having that same problem right now. You can try using your Windows CD or whatever and have it repair any damaged files or systems.
