no you have enough ram there,

you should have the 256 stick in the No1 slot, and the 128 stick in No 2 slot,

Next, both sticks of memory, should be the same speed, if not the memory will slow down to the slowest memory stick,

so if the 256 is faster than the 128 then the 256 will slow down to the 128 stick speed,

Odd amount of RAM affecting system performance will depend on your motherboard and type of system (pentium II, pentium III, Pentium IV, Hyper threaded, Core Duo, Core 2 duo)
Any hyperthreaded or dual core system needs two identical ram chips to take advantage of the dual channel speed. Also, even some older systems want identical ram memory sticks to run properly. You need to look up your system or motherboard on the net and see what it recommends for memory upgrades.

Nope. this setup is fine. However in some machines you will get better performance if you use equal RAM in each bank. Some machines will allow dual banking where if you have equal RAM in each bank doubling yor bandwidth. But the configuration you are using is fine for basic computing.

I hope this helps Good Luck
