I'm not a Toshiba fan, but brand shouldn't be your main concern. Look at the technical specifications and the price, and compare them to other machines out on the market. Personally though, when I think of quality laptops, I always go with HP. Your choice though.

I am using Toshiba Equium M40x-189 model from last 2 years and it has been very good friend to me. Performance ofcourse depends on configuration and what's ur usage type. I rate 7-8 / 10 for toshiba laptops, but only thing i am not satisfied with toshiba is it's Customer Service. I have purchased it in UK and i reside in india right now, and i have had bad experience. I have lost recovery CD and they are very careless while answering me and helping me out. They said me cut and straight that they cant help me out. Toshiba is the one who should be helping us to get back our recovery CD and in this case they wont provide itseems where DELL, SONY provide with very nominal price...but Toshiba's in performance sense i would recommend you to go ahead....Hope it helps.

Of course they are good, they are still making it are'nt they?
I love the Qosmio Series of Toshiba, not to mention the protege series it's the best of lot from toshiba.
Normal Satellite Laptops by toshiba are good in performance, and don't really cost that much.

The ones I've had my hands on were in the same category as most Acer/Packard Bells - lower end machines... not bad but not great.

They are well built, an excellent value for the dollar, in line with dell, hp and compaq.

I have had mine since 2003 and have had no major problems. I would recommend.
