Because they think it's bad for you. But it's not. I also used to think that.

I smoked pot daily for a long time and I really felt like I needed it for a long time. But now I don't and feel a lot better not smoking it. I used to need a joint just to feel normal. Even though it is not really addictive in a sense of a bodily addiction such as heroin it is definitely hooks your mind and I found it harder to give up the pot than I did smoking. I have broken the law many times. Lung cancer was a worry for me but I recently took up smoking cigs again and it pissed me off that the reason I started smoking was that I was bored being a straight head. I have done nearly every drug on the planet but now realise there is nothing better than being healthy and going down the gym and having a bit of life in myself.

Personal choice.
Sure speeding is breaking the law and I bet if you could research the numbers there are more people killed as a result of speeding than from smoking pot. But the consequences for speeding and smoking pot are very different.
Almost all pot smokers dream about the day it will be legal, but it's never going to happen. Sorry.

well, the answer from "SylentReverie" was good enough that i almost wasnt even going to answer this, but i will.
first of all, i used to smoke pot every day, at least twice. couldnt go to bed without taking at least a couple hits. about 3 years back, i was with some good friends of mine, getting high as usual, when suddenly i had the most emotional mental breakdown of my entire life. i got so upset i left my friends and went straight home, high and thinking about everything in life, family, friends, tons of emotional subjects. it got so bad i basically sad on my bed and burst into tears, just from a little pot helping me think about stuff in a saddening way.
i quit smoking for several months, and when i felt i was ready again, i got high again. once again, i felt sad and upset. nothing like my breakdown, but it didnt make me feel happy.
and ever since then, i probably get high maybe once per 6-8 weeks, when i know my mood is set right.
so theres MY reason for hardly smoking. as far as other peoples reasons, i know people who work for Verizon Customer Service that get paid very well and get drug tested randomly every 2 months. so thats why they dont smoke. and as far as breaking the law, speeding gets me a paper ticket that my lawyer takes care of for me. weed got me in handcuffs and taken to the police station and charged with a criminal record. so theres the difference in that.
a lot of people have a lot of different reasons for not smoking.
i hope this has helped best answer your question.

Because yes, it is illegal is a start.
I have broken the law by speeding. I have broken the law by making an illegal turn.
But your logic that I should choose to break the law and smoke weed because I have already broken the law by speeding is just about the stupidest analogy I have ever seen on YA.
You must be smoking right now......

Which is exactly why I don't smoke weed.

I'll give you two answers, one general and the other personal. As for the general answer, it is way too expensive for a lot of people. About a year ago the price was somewhere in the $400 to $600 range for an ounce. I know I couldn't afford to spend that kind of money although I assume it is less than the cost of a lot of other drugs including Coke.
On a personal level, it gives me a huge headache.
PS. I don't believe the negative propaganda on it and I know it's a lot safer for your health than tobacco and alcohol.

I used to think it didn't affect me until....About 7 years ago, I just took 2 hits and then had to do something very important. It screwed me up! I could not function. Until that point I didn't realize it had such an affect on your brain. I always just sat around and did nothing. Soo I never did it again. I still don't have as good of a memory! It's just not worth it!

Because of the health risks, addiction - cost, illegal.
I dont know how brownies stop weed from affecting your organs.
Weed is surely addictive which will result in a high bill which instead free things could be used instead for pleasure.
It is illegal, and however speeding is illegal, weed is a higher prosecution.

Weed is not good for you. Plain and simple, the only exuse for using that is if a Dr. prescribes it to you. Most people still try to go by the good book (the bible) and when Jesus comes back they would probably rather be spending time with their family, in chuch, or doing a good deed for someone rather than holding a cancer stick.

1.Some may not like the way it feels, some ppl get too paranoid.
2.Some ppl have good jobs that they can lose if they do smoke.
3. Smoking makes you lazy. I dont think its as bad as being a whino but at least a drunk can get up in the morning and go to work, while the stoner wants to lay around eating and smoking and sleeping. Dont say,"noooo" I am a former major pothead and had I not been Id be much further in life.

Because I don't need to hide myself from reality in a drug induced state. I deal with life instead of trying to forget about it.
