put up net curtains so you can leave real curtains open .do same to a bedroom with the net but close the curtain there and put a timer on up there for night time so it looks like someone is in day and night.i also leave some washing on line like an old tea towel or two that you dont care about.ask a neighbour to put rubbish in your bin if someone can get to it and look inside.

Lights on a Random Timer, Curtains shut, stop the mail, call to have your HOME put on Vacation Watch (your local police station's non-emergency line should be used for this), set your home's ALARM System (if you have one), stop newspaper delivery (better yet ... donate these vacation days of paper to the local schools!), and yes, make sure that the house looks as 'normal' as possible!

I always leave a table lamp on a timer so it comes on about 9 and goes off at 12 midnight, and partly draw the curtains.

Well first thing I would ask a good friend to pop in your house now and again to check on house.

As far as your lights are concerned you can get these plug in timers that turn on and off your lights at the times you set them. So if you got a couple of lamps to use these on. they work great.
I use them whenever I go away.

Leave your curtains open, and plug your lamps into timer switches to go off and on at various times after dark. You can also buy plug in light sensitive lights which will turn on when its dark and off again when it gets light.

I have a timer that turns lights on and off in two different rooms (they don't cost much) and you can hook them up to a table lamp. I also leave a radio or TV on. So far I've had pretty good luck--also have someone to pick up your newspapers and mail.

if you have blinds have them half closed. get a timer lamp in most used rooms. e.g. living room and bedrooms. try and get a neighbour to check up and maybe close/open the curtains every few days.

I always think the more you try the more it looks like no ones home. Who would burgle a house if all the windows were open and music was blaring? Haha, good luck....

you could:
buy a timer,
leave the radio on at a fairly low volume,
or let a trusted friend visit your home a few times so people willl think that someone is home!
