The mother claims she provided hair and cigarette samplings to a doctor and had the procedure done without his consent. I thought he would have to be there to sign a chain of custody form.

If they want chain of custody to be preserved for legal proceedings, then yes the neutral 3rd party would have to be able to verify that all the samples came from the correct people. But if she did it just for her own personal edification then it wouldn't matter if he was there, it just won't hold up in court.

It sounds as though someone is watching too much CSI. A sampling is done with a cotton swab to the mouth or bllod sampling. Yes it can be done by hair and saliva on the cigarettes but that is more for crime scenes. And YES they do have to sign a waiver, my son's father had to sign one also

That can not be done.Only a police department can have DNA taken from cigarette to solve a real bad crime but never used to establish paternity.This woman you are talking about is lieing and trying to hang someone.

For it to be admissible in court then probably, for a doctor to run the test probably not.
