You tell em - but don't expect anybody to actually consider what you've said - those doing the complaining have not been there themselves or have forgotten what it was like and feel like they have the right to judge people in general, not just smokers, but anyone who is different from them.

First of all I don't drink or smoke.I don't nag people about their smoking . But most people aren't as nice or accommodating as you about it. Some of us are highly allergic to cigarette smoke. It is not a matter of choice but a matter of live or death. I have severe asthma. I get around someone whose clothes smell of cigarettes and it can even set me off. Its horrible. So, it is just not people being naggy . Some people can literally not be around the stuff. Believe me I wish I wasn't allergic. My life would be so much easier. I wouldn't have to take medicines and be so careful where I went .I can't be out side when they burn the woods for controlled burns and things. Which they do like twice a year. It lasts like two weeks at a time and I have to wear a special mask and stay indoors with the air on . It's horrible. I'm sorry to vent at you . I appreciate that you are so nice with your smoking habits, most people don't care and think I have the right to do what I want when I what and they can't tell me what to do . Regardless of other people. They don't care if their smoking sends someone else to the hospital because they can't breathe. Their are others with my condition as well and other condition also. I have to carry inhalers on my person at all times because of this and other medications. Some people get very rude if you ask them in a very nice way please to not smoke.
Why do I get thumbs down for ? Because people get rude at me when I ask them in a very nice way or back away and they still keep coming at me with the cigerettes. I have had to go to the hospital several times in acute resp. distress. It's an medical emergency. It is not a choice. It was by birth.I'm not rude nor am I offenseive.

First of all, I don't drink, because alcoholism runs in my family and I'm not going to make it even more likely for myself to become one by drinking.
And yes, I have something against smoking (NOT SMOKERS): my grandmother died from emphysema when I was eight years old.
But you know what? She chose to do that when she was younger. She paid the consequences by dying at the age of 60.
So yeah, I've felt the pain losing someone I love. And it hurts when I see my friends smoke. But I can't control them, they can do what they want -they are adults, after all.
But I chose not to be around it. I don't like the smell and when I see my friends smoking, it only makes me think that they are hurting themselves. But it's not my decision - they know the risks, and they don't need me lecturing them, so I don't.
If you really don't smoke around anyone, then good for you. However, not all smokers are as considerate as you are, and breathing in a cloud of smoke when someone walks by you is very annoying. I don't hate that smoker, but I hate the smoke and I think it's a bit inconsiderate.
If you truly smoke around no one, and if no other smokers did either, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Do what you want in your own privacy. But don't subject me to your second-hand smoke and make me smell it. Because, quite frankly, I can't stand the smell.

actually if i drank everynight you would have the right to call me a drunk. lol
but neways i dont understand why u care so much what these pple think, they dont even know you.
and btw dont believe the hype
second hand smoking is not that ******* bad. those statistics were swayed!!! NOW if you live with a smoker who smokes in your house 24/7 for 5, 10, 15 years, it's gonna be bad for you. But just passing someone on the street who is smoking a cig. is not going to kill your ***. Being at a smoky bar once a month for a few hours is not gonna give you lung cancer! and it sure the **** isnt worse for u than it is for the person puffing on the cancer stick!!!!
this anti smoking movement is just another way to shut down our freedoms! It's true and anyone who is dumb enough to believe other wise deserves to have there freedoms taken away!!! But holy **** dont take away mine in the process!!!

Well if you are not killing everyone around you then you are killing your self. Smoking is really bad for your self. And even if you don't do it around everyone all the time. It is still bad for your self. You could have a heart attack. Or something worse. So I say stop smoking.

If you do this with no one else around, fine. But many smokers don't do what you do, and those are the ones that most of us have a problem with. There are some out there who don't mind smoking around some of us with allergies and blowing smoke in our faces. But kudos to you for having some consideration.

You are preaching to the choir! The government got me hooked on smoking when I was in the military in 1972. They at the time gave us little packs of cigarettes with I believe 5 each in our c-rations kits and at the same time the government collects taxes from the sale of tobacco as well as subsidizes tobacco farmers in this country!! Now I can not smoke at work, can't smoke in the house and on and on and on and on and on - Lighten up People - every has a vise!! Ye without sin cast the first stone!!!

They have thrown smokers out of everywhere but, the State of Texas passed a new tax, and now cigarettes are 1.00 per package higher, that makes them $36.00 per carton. The people who pass these laws and the people who don't smoke need to pray that all smokers don't quit or they might have to start paying their share of the taxes instead of making the smokers pay it all. A person, say a truck driver, that smokes, drinks, and travels coast to coast in a semi pays far more in tax than anyone else. It's always tax cigarettes, liquor or gas. A more fair way would be to tax gas only as everyone uses that.
Yes, throw us out of everywhere but pray we don't quit, it could wind up costing you!!!!!!!!!!

I still don't hate you, but how can you enjoy smoking? All of my family hates it (especially the ones who smoke)cause it killed some of our family, and is killing my papa (great-grandpa)
That is very good that you do it when no one is around, cause you don't hurt anyone else.

Ok, ok- if you are that considerate of a smoker then I guess people are just giving you a hard way to go, huh?
People in general like to give advice & suggestions on how to improve your life, when they should be minding their own sometimes...
Well, yahoo answers is a good forum for those who like to do such a thing, so you have it!
