Here it is-The worst one-They ruined baseball with the designated hitter. Total crap. Sure, maybe I'm a little older, but it takes so much strategy out of the game. Plus, extended many players careers that can't run or throw anymore.

Shootouts don't prove who the best team was, they only help to take away the TIE. Yes this would be the worst rule change. I'm a Lightning fan, as most know, and Holmqvist and Denis were alright goalies (Denis is old and done, and Holmer is young and working on it). Regardless they were at the top tier in shootout percentages. I'm not saying Tampa didn't deserve the wins but they are a great shooting team with the Big 3 and I watched every game that is televised (which in FL is alot) and a lot of the OT SO wins was because Tampa scored fast enough in the 3rd to bring it to overtime, held them scoreless, then put the big 3 and their other shooters out in the shootout first.

Yeah probably the worst ever. I can argue against the DH on one simple point. It was the PLAYERS LEAGUE that did it. Remember when it started the American League was started by the players and for the hitters. That is why they have the DH and the National League doesn't. The PLAYERS WANTED IT. I can't imagine the players actually WANTING a shootout in OT. I hope in the very least the Board of Governors would have to approve of this. At least then we could blame the owners as well.

Shootouts in the playoffs? That would be the worst idea since --- shootouts in the regular season. That would be like having a free throw contest to decide a basketball game, and wouldn't that be ridiculous!
Shootouts, in general, are the worst idea in sports since the designated hitter rule in baseball. I can't say that one is worse than the other, but they are both rotten ideas.

i dont know some of NFL's protecting th qb rules that let the ref blow the play dead cause he feels like it are right up there with play off shut outs and dh. Im trying to remember who it was that ref blew the play dead as the qb avoided the hit and was trying to keep his team driveing. Or the flip side how many times the def player let up thinking the ref would whisle it dead but doesnt leading to big play but if ref had and player still hit qb would have gotten penelty and probly a fine. but even all that wouldnt compare to taking away the chance of having 4ot's in the play off . Come on the Cup is earned with sweat and blood, not bought by who has best 5 players and a goalie

After the "slap in the face" that was the cancelled season, and the "punch to the gut" rule changes, the shootout in the playoffs is akin to the "kick in the groin" which would end my adoration of the best game on the planet.

It would absolutely ruin the game, but the bozos at NBC have probably already asked for it. Three 10 minute periods followed by a shootout with the goalie wearing street shoes instead of skates would suit their schedule, that way they could go straight to Extreme Knitting or whatever other programme is important to the thick heads at NBC.
Can you imagine the World Series being settled by a home run hitting competition?

It would be one of the worst rules in hockey. While I do like it in the regular season, it has no place the playoffs.
I dont care how long it takes to finish the game, let the players decide the game, not who it luckier in a shoot out. I have watched 4 overtime period games before, and loved it. Who cares about the fans on this one, lets keep the game how it should be.

Would it be the worst rule change in the history of sports? It's possible, but I don't follow any other sports, so I couldn't tell you.
Would it be the worst rule change in the NHL? Without a doubt, yes.

Personnaly, I would say yes. Playoffs is all about will and what little more effort players will put in to win. By removing "eternal OT", you don't see the real leaders, the people who want it more. Let's stick with what we have... Best game on Earth!
