my 11 year old wants to wear make-up. i am not saying that i am going to let her but if i did, what are some routines she can do? i told her that make-up is for highlighting what you have, and not for covering up the real you. any tips?

It's hard now a days to not let them wear the stuff. But there is no need to go overboard. I wear only foundation and blush. I crul my lashes, but I don't color them or use eye shadow. Lip gloss once in awhile- but let's face that stuff comes off so fast why bother?

I had really bad acne growing up and Mom refused to let me wear makeup. I was depressed. I was teased a lot. I wouldn't wish that on any girl.

You may want to pull out some pictures from magazines that show girls don't need to go overboard. This way she has an idea of what you want and that it looks good.

Offer her a good cleansing routine. Then set an age limit for wearing make-up. You're the parent, and setting boundaries is your job. Pushing boundaries is hers. If there is a BIG event, let her wear a little bit of tinted lip gloss. That should be all her beautiful little face needs for now.

have her go light a little lite eye shadow, and lip gloss but not ever day because 11 year old with a lot of make up can look really trashy even tho she might not be, also let her experement but don't allow her out of the house . Good Luck and you are the Parents so u make the desions

Because she is only 11, all she needs is some lip-gloss, eyeshadow, and maybe a little mascara. No lipstick or concealer will be needed. Tell her not to over-do anything, or she'll end up looking like a clown. And thats all she needs. Being only 11, you would actually not need make-up at all. You should convince her to wait until she's 13 or 14.

explain to her that foundation and blush clog pores and that they will only make her get breakouts and get worse and the safest makeup to wear is lip gloss (let her pick some out) and each year or so show her something new (like next year maybe teach her about eyeshadow) but keep up the whole year the excitement of lipgloss by letting her pick it out, and when you two are around getting some for yourself and wearing it

she probably just wants to fit in, i am dealing with the same thing with my younger sister and she doesnt need a SINGLE bit of makeup and when she wears it, it doesnt make her look good at all, but dont get her used to a routine of blush, foundation, liner and all that stuff until she is much older

At 11, I might let her practice at home, but she is really too young. Tell her makeup is a privilege she has to earn.
At 13, she could probably wear lip gloss or lipstick, and clear mascara.. At 14, add blush and mascara.
In high school, she can wear everything, as long as it passes the ' hooker test '. Standing outside in bright light, she should look polished, not 'available'.

i don't think you should let her wear make-up at all, plus, if it is to cover things up, some makeup products actually cause you to break out more. The only thing i think she could use is lipgloss. Tell her that its better to wait and that make-up will make her age faster in a bad way (it really does). It causes oily skin and pimples. I think that would gross her out and its the truth.

Get her some lip gloss. Let her start with that. Tell her that for now that is all she needs, because she doesn't need make-up. That is how I started my daughter, and she is 14 and barely wears any make-up ever. And when she does it is very little.

If you don't let her wear it they'll be problems if her friends do.Let her wear the amount her best friend does. When I was 11 I wore mascara, blush and lipgloss and white eyeliner on special occasions.
