Because sometimes they can be of great help if you are not too sure about something. You can also get many different ideas or opinions on certain subjects and chose an answer that best suits you.

Because they dont knwo you so they arent worried about hurting your feelings they tell you the truth..and some times if you need advice or have a problem its good to get differnt perspectives of teh situation :)

So you can get insight from someone that is not you. It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to believe or agree with what they say, but you can take their way of thinking into account.
