nokia or sony ericsson are the most easiest simple phones to use. however i have seen an alcatel phone for a bargain £9.99 on the orange website. dont kno how good the phone is but looks good for a first phone.

Virgin mobile Vox 8500 or Kyrocera k7 rave. very simple easy phones that are hard to break. Or Tracfones Motorola v60.

Nokia make simple ones with no gadgets on them, and they're quite easy to use.
