Why botther with a printer. It will end up costing you at least 50c per print (probably more like 1 dollar each) when you can get professional grade photos for 19c.

I sell consumer electronics and Id also recommend the HP PSC range, whilst you might not be able to pick up the ink for it just as cheap as you can for epson it is a more reliable printer. I find that having the paper feed from the bottem also tends to make printers more reliable. In saying all that the D88 isnt *too* bad a printer, if the device is <1 year old then it back to your retailer explaining the imperfections and there is a chance they will give you an exchange/credit. P.S if you have been using cheap ink then you have probably wrecked the print heads which is why the performance isnt great.

The HP 5940 Photo Printer is excellent both in terms of print quality and photo images. You can pick one up at PC World for around £60. Cartridges can be expensive if bought from a retailer, however I buy mine on eBay for less than half price! Whatever printer you finally decide on don't be tempted to purchase so-called compatible cartridges, they will invalidate your warranty and as I have found to my expense will eventually ruin your printer

I recommend Epson (VERY, VERY underrated for their quality and value) to everyone. They're about the best value for money and third party cartridges ALWAYS work. I wouldn't recommend refilling ink cartridges as it can short out your printer if it leaks. look at the link below for cheap ink supplies for Epson:
(I have an R300 with 6 inks at £9 each for originals of £4.50 a full set of 3rd party cartridges).

Probably HP is the way to go. Epsons don't do the refill. Lexmarks aren't the same quality. Canons are excellent, but not with fill. HP's are sturdy and reliable, but if you do have trouble, you're calling india to a guy that does NOT kknow troubleshooting and is only reading a script. If you have trouble with HP, just junk it and buy a new one.

I use an Epson 320 (no longer available) but, with a Continuous Ink Supply System... so cheap to run, its embarrasing! equates to forty pence a cartridge as against £6.50 for epson carts.
Handy Links....
