Glass pipes...hmmmm.....
If you're talking about actually smoking TOBACCO, then no, you don't want glass...
Very cheapest (if you're new to this, just learning and limited in funds) go with a CORN COB pipe (most drug-stores/tobacconists will have some). They require no break-in (will smoke well from the start) and are quire inexpensive.
If you are looking for a briar, there are lots of sources. If you are adventurous, you can e-bay a pretty cheap "estate" (ie used) briar pipe, but you'll want to properly clean it on receipt. Alternately you can order online from MANY different sites depending on where you are (www.smokingpipes.com, www.vegassmokes.com, www.cupojoes.com to name a few). One of my favorite sites for inexpensive pipes is http://www.frenchyspipes.com as he has GREAT service and prices.
