Most likely matter which is mass had to be structured out of the substance of space as a result of a multitudes of space substance wirlwinds.Hence mass was structure as a diofferent configuration than the substance of space. The question is How did our Creator form the substance of space to make up the Universe.
There are many theory Concerning the Creation of the universe and when Universal time came into being to the present. WE can only observe the resulting time and the effect of the Universe. Any other theory how the Universe began are very good speculations and one theory is as good as another.

Up until about 10 ^ minus 4 seconds after the Big Bang event there was nothing but energy and space. 10 ^ minus 4 seconds after the Big Bang the first protons and neutrons (..matter..) formed due to e = m*c^2. About 3 minutes after that the first low-mass atomic nuclei came into existence, and then about 400,000 years later the first neutral atoms were generated.

Mathematical models suggest that it just came into existence as the result of something that for now can not be known. Works for me. But I believe in a creator God.
