In addition to Hinduism practised by most Indians, the traditional Japenese Shintu religion is also polytheistic -- the Emperor's claim to be descended from the sun-goddess of the pantheon.

Many African, and isolated Asian and South American tribes still practise their traditional polytheistic religions -- they are usually referred to as "animists".

Also in many central and south American countries, the old gods were given the name of Christian saints, and the pagan religions continued on as before, under a mostly cosmetic Christian guise.

yes there are many polytheistic cultures. A few that people still practice in some places are Celtic religion, Hawaiian native religion, Odinism, Santeria and many Asian religions. Hinduism in fact is polytheistic although the different Gods and Godesses are said to be manifestations of one overarching reality.

Yes. They are Hindu, and African cultures. Wiccans also do the whole goddess and gods of whatever thing. They are fun to read about because they use the gods to teach practical life lessons.

They're called Hindus. I am surpised you don't know this.

Not to mention how many other cultures and religions there are with polyytheistic beliefs. Hinduism is the most obvious though.

From what I know that in my family's background is that I'm Mexican, but my into my families past and found out that on my my mothers tribespeople were Catholic and my fathers side were Chistian,.....................that was before the Conquistadors came with there crusade, there was Idolitry, such as the Indians worshipping false gods that were gods of the heavens, gods of the earth, gods of the such and such and today there is somewhat controversy because some peopl still ask, ''What happend to the Indians?'', well, believe it or not they still exist! To tell you the truth I don't see how they live in such a lifestyle, because with all that sacrificing all those children and animals, man!, that was'nt normal.

Yes... there are billions of us. There aren't many monotheistic religions out there. It just so happens that two of the biggest religions in the world are monotheistic.

Are there.

And the answer is yes...our numbers grow every day, because monotheism only makes sense if you are told that from birth and never question it.

It might be sarcasm, or a pointing to an idea, for ex, letting someone think they are the 'ox goddess' because she stole oxen and caused illness in good people; where she did it to try to obtain power over others.
