Betsy Ross was widowed three times, and I have heard that since she knew how white men were having children by African women to increase their slave population, she decided to do the same. As far as the belief that Quakers didn't have slaves, PLEASE, why do you think they called George Washington the father of our country? He had so many slave children that it's the reason so many black peolple in the USA have the last name Washington. But I digress, Betsy Ross had children by her male slaves to increase her slave popuplation (and in essence, her property value). Of course that info wasn't in her biography. I checked. European Americans tend to change hsitory to suit their purpose, and that's a fact. I have spoken to only sevral other people who knew this most interesting tidbit of history. Has anyone else heard of this?

Bill Brown, obviously you have Internet capability, do some reasearch. You sound quite ignorant. Edify and educate yourself. You can only be a better person because of it.

Thank-you for enlightening me, knew about Washington, but never heard a hint about Ross, but that doesn't surprise me, many secrets and history has been changed to suit others

Nope, I had not heard that. Very interesting! What I had heard is that the story about her making the first flag was just a myth or folklore without a grain of truth in it, so there goes her claim to fame. So now she becomes infamous for miscegenation? Can't say I much blame the Quakers for shunning her, if that is what happened. That does seem an immoral and despicable thing to do, whether female or male.

LOL!
that's silly! why wouldn't she just get white trash women to have slaves for her? why go through that ordeal herself?
Like aren't the fresh off boat slaves the ones that people sought after?
please! I'm not racist! I only state the truth.
Cause I learned that slave owners used half breeds (as they called them) to work in saloons and as prostitutes.
isn't that what she was trying to do? that Betsy lady?
Please! I am really not being racist here.......... besides George Washington couldn't keep his pants up :) and that's what happens when you vote democrats. lol!

My moms name is Marie. Does that sound like an identity problem to you? Those names are not African American. Most of those names are made up anyway.

Yep, and I know that blacks fought for the South, which most blacks don't believe, but than again the pictures of them don't lie.

No I haven't..........Interesting, I have the last name Bass, I have often wondered, who was this "bass" family who owned my distant relatives, it really gives one a sense of emptyness to know your last name is not yours
