its very possible you bought a bad battery,i have seen new ones that have set on the shelf for a while that was good, then you start using them and they will go bad,i always look at the manufacture date on a battery when i buy one, if its over a month old i wont buy it,,id try exchanging it ,just tell them it wont hold a good charge, and they will exchange it,if that don't help it ,you,ll have to have the car checked out,it may have something actually draining the power from it,and a good repair shop can find this for you, good luck, hope this helps.

It's also possible for an alternator to have a blown rectifier and still charge. However, it will alow the battery voltage to go through it to ground and drain the battery with the engine off.

Most people only check for voltage of the alternator while the engine is running and assume it's good because it's charging.
But they don't test the circuit with the engine off......

Just something to keep in mind.

I don't believe in newer batteries being bad.
Is the battery going dead after it sits overnight? If so,something is draining it dry. That would be a light that stays on in the glove box, trunk,or underhood. It could also be an amp that doesn't shut down. Anything that drains the battery will produce heat.Try disconnecting the battery if it's going to sit and see if the problem is still there.

There is a good chance your new battery is fine. You should take it to the dealer and have them check the electricial system on your car. They are a number of things on a car that can drain the battery in a short time if they dont shut down with the key off.

Excellent advice above on buying new batteries. You don't want one that's been sitting on the shelf for months and months, and any new part is not necessarily a good part!
