off-side in cricket is really a particular side depending on the abtsman' stance! For Right handed batsmen...off-side is right, for left handed, it's left! Hope that helps!

There is no "off-side rule" in cricket, there never was and never will be. The nature of the game as a whole, where the ball can travel in any direction off the bat, makes being "off-side" an impossibility, whether by the batsmen, bowler or fielders.
Furthermore, the common English spelling for "off-side" as used in football (soccer), hockey, polo, hurling, lacrosse, rugby and even American football and basketball, is actually used as "offside".

i think you might be thinking of football, as a cricket lover i can recall no such rule.
however, there is the off side of the pitch which is to the right of a right hander or left of a left hander

there is a leg side rule, but no off side,
leg side rule is that fielding team cannot have more than 2 fielders behind the square leg umpire.
for example, if there is a backward square leg, leg gully and a fine leg .. that would be a no ball.
