I know I know, Dells suck for upgrades, but any help would be appreciated. My diminsion 3000 has a motherboard that supports a regular PCI graphics card ONLY. And the only way to get a better card is upgrade the motherboard correct? But I am in the dark as far as motherboards go. I have an Intel processor. Any pointers as to what the best motherboard is if I want to run PCIe or AGP along w/ 1gig of RAM so I can run World of Warcraft and other games smooth as silk?

Do not attempt to buy a new case and motherboard. STOP!
Dell (and other computer manufacturers) install the OEM version of Windows, OEM windows comes at a cheaper price and has a very strict licensing terms, one of the main and strictly enforced terms is the one copy per machine rule. Windows OEM allows you to use it on one computer, that is, if you ever replace the motherboard or the CPU with a non identical one (ie for repair), then it locks up and Microsoft will most likely refuse to fix it if you call them, because it is a violation of the terms.

Again, if you replace your motherboard with a non identical one, your copy of Microsoft Windows will lock up and you will not be able to use it! If it does not lock up, you will be denied all updates, including security updates and any future versions of IE, WMP or any other software Microsoft offers for free.

yea dell uses proprietary crap. the motherboard is specially designed to fit their cases and no other motherboard can. They do it on purpose so if u buy the cheap computer u cant upgrade it. Ur best bet is to get a new case and a new motherboard and just take out all the components from the dell case and put it in the new case. Find any atx motherboard that has a pci express x16 card slot, and find a graphics card that is a x16 card. I would be happy 2 help u pick out components, just message me -Jake
