my son is 3 months old, he has been swaddled every night since he was born. it's hot now and i can't swaddle him so he keeps starttling (starttle or moro reflex). so he ends sleeping near me, i don't like doing this because one night i found him on his tummy, don't know how it happened.to me it's safer for him to sleep in the crib.
so how can he sleep without being swaddled?

You can stop swaddling gradually. Start by just leaving one arm out.

I still swaddle my baby when it's warm out. I just use a light cotton blanket. She has both arms out, but I wrap her legs.

Make sure you have a crib that meets all current safety guidelines, including bars that are close together, and a firm matress. Then put the baby there and leave him there. It will be heartwrenching for a couple nights. At first he'll cry, scream, and carry one like somebody is pinching him. He'll do this until he is so tired he'll fall asleep. The second night he'll do the same thing, but for a much shorter period of time. After about 3-4 nights he'll get used to being by himself and he'll stop crying and just go to sleep. Caution: If you decide to do this you'll have to tough it out. If you leave him in the crib, let him cry for a while, and then you give up and go pick him up, it will just reinforce the crying. In his little brain, the more he cries the more likely it's that he'll get picked up & cuddled. Picking him up becomes positive reinforcement for all the crying. That's not good. The idea is to have him go cold turkey to break the conditioning he is used to. Good luck and hang in there.

Just leave him sleep in the crib. He needs to gain independence from you. Its going to be hard the 1st few nights but it should get better. You should start to form your own schedule now with the baby and go threw all the safety guidelines for having a crib and just make sure he can't get out of it.
