You can leave a short length of the original line, cut it and re-flare it without taking it off the vehicle. Then simply connect the end of your new 10 foot piece to the flared end.

You can buy brake lines in different length's to get close to the length you need....you may have to put a loop or S type bend to get it to fit.

get at least 12-14 feet of line, to allow for bends. better to have to much than not enough.
