What the hell is that supposed to mean?? Your the one who sad since your also the product of your mother who couldnt nourish you What are you a bastard? What your mother couldnt breastfeed you how sad Stop trying to analyse other life styles just because your the great example of people who couldnt show you love that you dont even deserve! Don't you know that this is a breast feeding community and you just want to come offend people maybe your projecting!! You redundant fool i hate people like you i hope your wife or husband whatever the hell you are (i doubt you have any!) cheats on you all the time im going to breast feed until the baby is ready and what! what the hell you think of that Dont offend none of the breast feeding ladies whether its a day or 5years that they want to breastfeed!! i hope you see toddlers breastfeeding all the time where ever you go

Personally, I really try to support breastfeeding women. I do. But I have issues with breastfeeding toddlers... I'm not sure why, and it bothers me somewhat that it does bother me.
It's common in other countries (where perhaps food is scarce), but that doesn't mean it's "best." Animals start weaning their young when they have teeth... I think that's a sign that they are able to chew now? Also, I think that women who continue to breastfeed beyond the time that it's really beneficial to the child are doing it for other reasons... maybe they can't stand to see their baby growing up? Maybe they feel superior for marathon breastfeeding? I knew this woman who breastfed her 3-year-old... it was just weird! The kid would be running around on the playground, come up, and take a suck! There was no real nutritional reason for this... it was "suck, suck... ok, back to playing!"
So... I think it's great up to a year. I can even stomach up to 18 months. But beyond then, I think the intentions are off.

No, the American Academy of Pediatrics suggest nursing for at lease 12 months, and past that if mom and baby are both willing. I nursed for 12 months, and stopped because my daughter wasn't really interested, but would have continued for a few more months of she wanted. In many other countries children are nursed intil 2 or 3. I personally wouldn't do that, but there are many who do.

If you can do it that long, more power to you! Personally, I got freaked out once my "baby" had teeth!
