64x² - 48x + 9 =

The middle term is - 48x

Find the sum of the middle term

Multiply the first term 64 times the last term 9 equals 576 and factor

factors of 576

1 x 575
2 x 288
3 x 192
4 x 144
6 x 96
8 x 72
9 x 64
12 x 48
16 x 36
18 x 32
24 x 24 . . .<=. .use these factors

- 24 and - 24 satisfy the sum of the middle term

insert - 24x and - 24x into the equation

64x² - 48x + 9 =

63x - 24x - 24x + 9 =

8x(8x - 3)- 3(8x - 3) =

(8x - 3)(8x - 3) =

(8x - 3)²

- - - - - - - - -s-

i think it is (8x-3)^2 (?). Square the first term, twice the product of the first and the second, then square the 2nd term. so you get the trinomial: 64x^2-48x+9

The answer is (8x-3)^2

here is the solution:
8x x 8x = 64 x^2
-3 x -3 = 9
8x x -3 x 2 = 48x

(8x-3)^2, the best thing about doing factorization is that you can always expand your answer to check if you got it right. The constant in your (8x-8)^2 would have been 64, not 9, so it's incorrect.

(8x-8)^2 = 64x^2 - 128x +64. This does not amount to the question.

Correct answer is (8x-3)^2

It is (8x-3)(8x-3) when you factor this back out you get 64x^2-24x-24x+9 which reduces back to your original which is 64x^2-48x+9
