If light is the fastest thing around and even that takes 'light years to get anywhere', then how come when the light is turned off DARK is already there? One more thing. There is Matter and Anti Matter....and we live on a don't matter planet...is this the reason why we're so busy polluting it beyond recovery?

have you ever attempted to create dark ? . that's correct you can't , dark is the absence of light , you can create light , not darkness , just like you can't create cold , cold is the absence of heat , that's how i refrigerator or air conditioning unit works they remove heat , and as for the planet , trust me on this , earth is not this fragile little ball floating around in space , it has been here a hell of allot longer then us , and will be here long after we are gone

Light is not the fastest thing

It (as far as can be proven) that thought is the fastest thing. Consider instantly the light touches your eye your brain knows of it yet how many corridors, processes etc... Has your brain been through to calculate all the details of that first ray of light? millions! Also dark and light are equal in speed since they are just opposites. As for what others have said yes you can create dark because we can paint the colour black can we not? We can also create EXTREME cold it has been done sometime back in Southampton University UK and they discovered a null state which is not solid, liquid or gas but something else.

Personally I think like the experiment in Southampton University found that if you go extreme enough in one direction or another with light and dark you would eventually get a null state or vaccum.

First of all the nature of light is dark. It is basically an entity that cannot be shadowed. It is an invisible particle mass.
It is by mass collision at certain frequencies that your eyes are able to sense and see what is happening in our suroundings. Since it is the densest mass in the Universe it moves faster than any ofther mass structure . We call that the speed of light as symbol "C",because it may vary depending on space density.
The reason we are able to see is because this light flux maps out objects, and when reflected , our eye mechanism allows it to be interpreted to our brain as an image.
Different animals and insects see differently then we do because their eyes are tuned to different frequency.
A snake sense only by infrared frequency which to us humans appears as dark and invisible. Gamma radiation appears as dark to us ;it basically is light radiation at ultra high frequency.
Just because somthing appear dark to us does not mean that darkness is devoid of substance in the Universe. It is just a phenomenon beyound the range of visible frequency.

As per your reference to antimatter the following thought is offered;
Actually antimatter is a misnomer. The reason is that, it is the basic substance of the Universe that makes up all the particles of mass. It other words it is what physics calls dark matter identified as such as per Quantron theory.

You mention light being turned off.Assumes the light from the Sun is turned off it would take more then 8 minutes before the light particle flux has disappered; that means you will stil lsee light for 8 minutes after the light form sun has extinguished. (turned off.)
Per your question on pollution;
Polluting is usually recycled. It is the bi products of humans.it does not relate to the speed of light or darkeness.

Ever wonder why if light is, why can't you see it travel? We can see it's presence only when particles and clouds catch it.

I can't prove it but I believe Light does not travel.
It's beyond speed.

Actually light is everywhere too,just like darkness only its a different kind of energy. Darkness is non-energy, darkness is dead Light is alive.It can be unlocked just like fire. It's strange because in the Bible God speaks out and light appears.

How Light works will never be solved, but if we did unlock the principles of light we'd solve space travel.

We would not even need spacecraft, it would work like on star trek we would just appear from one place to the other.

Those are my theories call me crazy.

haha I like that idea, the one about the dark already being there..that's really creative.

I guess as far as scientists know, dark is just the absence of visible light. Even when a room is dark, there is still much light in the room in the form of infrared, radio waves, etc. I think true darkness is impossible (like the absence of ALL light).

when the light source is turned off (like the light bulb) then there is an absence of photons of light. DARK is nothing but the absence of light. it is not another form of energy, it is actually the absence of energy. so obviously, when light leaves, what takes its place? nothing. darkness.
in the same way, why is a cold thing cold? cold just means the absence of heat energy. cold in itself, is nothing.

i'm not really sure what you mean about the second question. but i do know that you're generalsing and mixing things up way too much. slow down....

My humble opinion is, that you are thinking like that because that darkness is already there in your mind...you won't find enough light to dissipate it. If we would live on a "don't matter" planet you wouldn't got more than ten answers to such a question.

It becomes dark at the same speed it gets light. Its the light going away that makes it dark.

The first question is inconclusive. We don't know the distance you're trying to talk about.

The second question doesn't make sense. Are you saying we live on an anti-matter planet?

Light waves also come in many frequencies. The frequency is the number of waves that pass a point in space during any time interval, usually one second. It is measured in units of cycles (waves) per second, or Hertz (Hz). The frequency of visible light is referred to as color, and ranges from 430 trillion Hz, seen as red, to 750 trillion Hz, seen as violet. Again, the full range of frequencies extends beyond the visible spectrum, from less than one billion Hz, as in radio waves, to greater than 3 billion billion Hz, as in gamma rays.
As noted above, light waves are waves of energy. The amount of energy in a light wave is proportionally related to its frequency: High frequency light has high energy; low frequency light has low energy. Thus gamma rays have the most energy, and radio waves have the least. Of visible light, violet has the most energy and red the least.

Light not only vibrates at different frequencies, it also travels at different speeds. Light waves move through a vacuum at their maximum speed, 300,000 kilometers per second or 186,000 miles per second, which makes light the fastest phenomenon in the universe. Light waves slow down when they travel inside substances, such as air, water, glass or a diamond. The way different substances affect the speed at which light travels is key to understanding the bending of light, or refraction, which we will discuss later.

Speed of Light: 299792458 m/s
