The poet Jackie Kay - female, Scottish-born , black and lesbian - Jackie Kay K was born in Edinburgh in 1961 to a Scottish mother and a Nigerian father. .

Her works are feminist and deal with themes about gender and race.

Her position is open but she does not want her poems and writings to be "labeled" as coming from any one point of view.
But in some of her plays the issue is very important but if the poem does not deal with gender the issue of her sexuality is
not critical.
