I have a 1988 Chevy 1500 and when I bought it the guy didn't have the key to the doors. How do I get a new key for my truck?

Some locksmiths can take the lock out of one of the doors and create a key for you based on that lock. But, at the same time, ask about replacing the doorlocks. Then, go with whichever is cheaper.

Another thing to think about is that the original owner might be lying and still have a set of keys. If so, you might be better off changing the locks.

If you really want to pay money, many times they can rekey the door lock to fit the ignition key, but on most old Chevy's, the door and ignition key have been different shaped keys, one square, one round.
