chuck berry claims to be, but ya gotta give it up to elvis. Im not a fan of his by any means but the wa he revolutionized rock n roll is historic.
he was the original show man, moving and gyrationg his hips the way he did.
when he was on the "ed sullivan show" the camera wouldnt even pan down to his hips because it was considered risque at the time. Time in and time out he performed like he owned the stage and if it hadnt been for him rock n roll would never be the way it is right now.

To me the obvious answer is Elvis. He was always referred to as "The King". He was actually one of the pioneering performers that established the term "Rock and Roll". And Carl Perkins would be a close second to Elvis. He also contributed in his own way to the founding of Rock and Roll.

Elvis Presley! They don't call him the King for nothing. He completely revolutionized music and the performance that goes into a stage show.

I think Little Richard influenced many white musicians back before black music was "acceptable" to white kids' parents. (taboo= desire to imitate and participate) He was an influence to Buddy Holly, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix and Brit musicians like the Beatles, the Yardbirds (Clapton). and the Stones. He and Chuck Berry have to get more credit than Elvis (or Carl Perkins) in my book.
