so i got a ticket this morning.... going 85mph in 65mph zone. Here are the circumstance:
I am 19
I had a ticket b4 but i got it cleared due to traffic school (less than 18 months ago).-So i can't go again.
So no points on my record.
my questions are

1. about how much will it cost?
2. What will happen to my record as far as points/ and how long will it be on my record?
3.What will happen to my insurence?

*4. any other suggestions/ Should I try to fight this ticket.?

my idea was to go to court to try to fight it, then extend the court date in hopes that the officer won't show up.

:)

I was not going to answer this a second time, but cyanne has given such a large amount of misinformation I feel a need to correct it.

This will not cost $500.
A speeding ticket is 1 point, not 10, and points last for three years, not four.
Your license will not be suspended for a single speeding ticket.
You are not automatically charged with reckless driving for going 20 mph over the limit.

This ticket will cost around $266. You will have to contact your insurance agent to see how 1 point will affect your insurance.

Don't even try to fight it. You WILL lose. You will pay about $500 in fines, and you will get at least 10 points off of your license. You may have your license suspended for 30 to 90 days because at 20 mph over the speed limit, you are automatically charged with Reckless Driving. Your insurance will increase if you are convicted of Reckless Driving. I suggest you pay the ticket ASAP! Call the phone number on the bottom of your ticket to find out exactly how much you owe and whether they've chosen to formally charge you with Reckless Driving, or whether you can just pay the fine. It stays on your record for 4 years.

You have to call the phone number that is printed on the ticket, and be sure to either mail in the money before the due date, or appear to fight the ticket.

Of course, if you were not speeding you should fight it.

Yes, your insurance rate will rise, if you are found guilty and you will also have to pay court costs on top of the fine for speeding.

Why do so many people find it so hard to act like adults and take responsibility for their actions?

Don't waste the court's time or the officers by playing games. Pay the ticket and be done with it. What happens, happens and it's no one's fault but your own. Obey the laws and you won't have to sweat stuff like this.

ask you insurance company what it will cost with an additional point. that will let you choose between fighting and just accepting the ticket.
do so anonymously if you are worried about it.
