I have just upgraded to a wireless bt hub, but am worried as I have 3 kids of 4 5 and 15 and computer stays on all day.
Can anyone advise me about electro magnetic fields around this sort of equipment
I understand that the WHO says they are ok, but am still worried.

I have a wireless router and I've switched of the wireless transmitter and gone back to using cables.

I actually did this mainly because it was interfering with my TV link but I did it also because had concerns over the long term effects.

This is an area where nobody really knows the answer.
Some say it is dangerous, some say not. There are no long term studies to go by.

The BBC TV show Panorama recently aired a show specifically on Wi-fi, the link is below.

Good luck

It only produces these electro magnetic fields when it is downloading and not when it is idle, as for safety your wifi PC gives off more than 3 times more magnetic fields than if your were standing next to a mobile phone mast. School has been advised by health officials not to go wireless because of the findings, but so far only 2 schools out of 190 have not gone wireless because of the warnings, I believe that the other 188 have sent messages to the parents of possible health risk, but do not plan to change from their WiFi pc because of cost. As for leaving yours on all day the only damage it is doing is to your wallet. Your PC uses about 0.45kw an hour which is about 3.60 in 8 hours which adds up to about £1.30 per day.

My laptop is on 24/7 connected wirelessly to the router. For the last 6 months it has been next to my bed less than a metre from my head. I have felt no ill effects. However I understand that some people claim to be sensitive to electromagnetic radiation. Just keep an eye on the kids' behaviour to see if there are any changes.

the truth is that emp and electrinic waves have been wizzing around you for years, since they invented the radio. now with TV's, Digital tv, digital radio, normal radio, mobile phones, walkie talkies, cb radios and wifi signals. i wouldnt worry.

every electronic item gives off a small ammount of electo magnetic feild, even a wire that hase a current running through ti, so i wouldnt worry. the wireless technology isnt harmful, because it's such a small feild it has to create. unlike mobile phones!

I would suspect there would be more danger from the monitor, but just mount the hub fairly high on a wall, that's what I've done, well up & out of the way.

Oh come on, there's nothing to worry about. I'm sure you are happy ferrying them about in the car which is much more harmful.

there is no information of any damage from proximity to instantaneous routers. about the in basic terms way you could damage your self with it really is through hitting your self on the top with it or getting it stuck on your throat. otherwise, it really is danger free.
